Sourdough Baking Sourdough was a critical component for every gold stampeder; there were no grocery stores in Dawson City and no place to buy yeast. Suzanne read somewhere that the first piece of furniture in a gold rush cabin was a tiny shelf by the wood stove for the sourdough pot to keep it warm and bubbling. |
