Sauna by the Lake
As enchanting as the lakeside property was when we first saw it with the realtor, it was the sauna that sold us on the spot. Since named the “Luna Lodge”, the sauna is an authentic Yukon experience in bathing out of doors and may likely be the most memorable event at the Dunroamin’ Retreat.

hiking trail along Crag LakeHiking
Local trails: The short loop trail is a 2.5 km hike following the lake part way and comes to rest at a rustic bench by the water. In June, fields of arnica are abundant on this easy to manage walk. The old trappers cabin trail (also known as the long loop) is a 5 km hike along mostly level ground, partly along the lake. This trail is tastefully decorated by many visiting and local artists and boasts a variety of wild flowers in summer and cranberries in fall. The old cabin dates back to the 1930’s and is photogenic as well as a true depiction of a trapper’s reality. Photo: the lookout trail, which is short, steep walk.
Crag lake from lookout trailThe lookout trail is a 2km rugged hike uphill to spectacular view of the entire lake. Here we find the first sighs of spring with the purple crocus in abundance. crocus
picking rhubarb Berry Picking
Berry picking in the fall can be experienced in the near vicinity of the guest cabin. This includes high bush cranberries for juice and raspberries for muffins. Rhubarb is available on the premises as early as late May for delicious desserts.

Skating
Skating is a popular winter activity and each year brings it’s own interesting style depending on the conditions. For example, at times it is possible to skate the entire lake before the heavy snow arrives. Typically the community shares a rink and one year we were fortunate to have a 4km loop ploughed in front of our houses.

snowshoeing in meadows Skiing and Snowshoeing
Skiing is best on the lake and sometimes on the trails. It is possible to ski across the lake into the meadow where there is plenty of evidence of wildlife. it is possible to see moose and caribou any time of year.
